WTI oil (WTI): read guide

Understanding this instrument

WTI refers to West Texas Intermediate oil. To compare two graphs, check the source, the type of contract, and the possible deadline. A contract change or a serial adjustment may create a deviation that is not a change in the same instrument.

Prices, candles and analyses

For WTI, the M5, M15, H1 and H4 views place the observations in separate horizons. A moving average describes a smooth level, the RSI an aspect of the momentum and the ATR an amplitude of variation. These measures do not answer the same question; their disagreements must remain visible.

A fenced candle and a temporary candle do not provide the same level of information. The graph can build a partial candle from the really received ticks during the consultation; the previous missing data must not be invented. The visual calculations of the graph remain distinct from the engine analyses.

Limits and provenance

Before interpreting an analysis, consult the supplier, the time of the last observation, the freshness of the candles and the missing factors. The status of the price and of the analysis are distinct. A score is not a probability of gain and a lack of data is not a neutral signal.
